There may be light traces of use on the bottom of a MacBook, laptop or iMac, but not on the "visible" parts.

The difference with a 5-star rating is that there may be one or more small inconspicuous scratches visible on, for example, the screen or the casing. Sometimes one small mini dent can give an otherwise perfect device a 4-star rating instead of a 5-star rating.
